Giorgio Armani Summer 2011 Blushing Fabric #4, #5, and #37 Sheer Lipstick

So today I found out the only place in New York City that has the Armani summer collection is at the Armani store on 55th-56th Street and 5th Avenue. Normally I go to my MA, but since I'm leaving the country in a few days, I'm under a bit of pressure to get them now.

Formula: If you're familiar with Face Fabric foundation, imagine the texture and feel, but in a blush. It's basically a silicone based gel formula. You literally need the size of a pinhead on your finger to use on both cheeks, because it's pure pigment. They're so easy to blend out and sheer, but they do set pretty quickly. Once it's on your face, they last a long time. ;) Last year I purchased Blushing Fabric #1 and #3 and I reach for these quite often.

Blushing Fabric #4: The best way to describe it in terms of color is...cinnamon. It's a slightly burned terracotta kind of shade? Uhm, let's just stick with cinnamon. This particular one will be a learning curve for me, because it seems like if I apply too much of this on, it can be easily seen as a sunburned kind of look. I know I can pull it off, but when I return to the USA, I'll have to talk to my MA on how to use it.

Blushing Fabric #5: It's a pinky purple color and it's really a gorgeous shade. sigh. I know I'll be using this one often. I know this one will sell out quickly because it's a fool-proof color.

Sheer lipstick #37: The the best way to describe it is...imagine a very soft orange cream color (like ice cream), but add in a hint of beige with a beautiful sparkle. On me it lightens up my natural lip color and on my hand it looks kind of ordinary (as in you can find another color in your stash that looks similar). But the effect and shine on your lips is incredible. SO incredible. It's soft enough that it doesn't scream orange, but it's definitely not a boring clean peach color either. Lighter skintones will adore this one. On me it's a light orange-beige. sigh. I wasn't even planning to buy a lipstick, but I may have to try the others, because they look so beautiful.

Onto the swatches. I rushed to swatch them so they are a bit uneven, but you can get the idea:

  2. Thanks for this post- I have been curious about the blush fabrics. Were you tempted by the summer eye palette?

  3. I saw it but didn't play with it because the MA didn't want to really show me :(. I had a bad experience at the Armani boutique. I asked Joey my MA who I go to for GA at Bloomys to put a palette on hold for me when it arrives at his counter. I would have waited until Joeys counter got it, but I'll be out of the country for a couple of weeks. I only bought these items for my readers so you can see swatches before it's at counters.

I'm glad I got the blushing fabrics but my experience sucked :( :/

  5. Sorry your experience at Armani sucked! Customer service seems to be a lost art at many places, unfortunately. Thanks again for the swatches.

  6. I got an e-mail from Giorgio Armani (based on an earlier query I'd sent) that said shades 1-3 would be available at counters for a short while. Have you seen those. I got Raspberry but am having a learning curve with it. It's not as fluffy as the original Blushing Fabrics IMHO, so it's harder to work with to get a natural (or relatively natural) look. And it's more pigmented. I'll be curious to hear about your follow up experience with Sienna. I didn't get it because I thought it would be too warm for NW10 me, but now I'm curious about it -- especially since I wasn't as thrilled with Raspberry as I'd anticipated. That's SO much for your helpful information. I love your blog. Which is your favorite of the blushing fabrics you have.

  7. so an anonymous poster posted and for some reason it doesnt exist in my comments, but i have the email with what they had to say:

my answer: no. when i had gone to the armani store the collection had been out for 2 weeks and the original blushing fabrics weren't there.

my answer: i did have to give my tube a good shake, and i felt like the texture was the same and are just as easy to apply as the original ones. i use my fingers and use the MOST a pea size amount (which is good for both my cheeks).

As for sienna: i mix it with #5 and i use it alone but a very small amount for a nice warm look. i haven't gone to my GA counter since i just came back from being out of the country, but i'll do a follow up post on #4.

i do adore all of my blushing fabrics, but #1 will always be my fav. i know some people don't like it because it is a small microsparkle. so for those who don't like the microsparkle, #5 is awesome. ;)

  8. Hello Panties,

I dropped you a question about this face fabric on twitter but hey, I'm gonna ask again...

How do you find the texture? Is it silicone-y in a way that it feels "alkaline"/greasy? Does it stain and how long did it last on you?

I have the Face Fabric but I don't think I am such a huge fan of it, I find the spreadability on the poorer side...

    Thanks in advance x

  9. Hi ! I didn't get the message the first time.

Face Fabric: it didn't feel greasy when applied, it didn't stain my face either. It lasted about 6 hours (not great for me). I thought the spreadability was okay, but nothing special. What I didn't like was the lack of coverage.

  11. I don't know of any dupe Alice. :( it's such a unique shade that I would get a backup if possible at your local counter...or maybe nordies or saks or neimans online?
