  1. Ah your brush collection is insanely beautiful! Brushes are the one thing I don't like to splurge on, but I've been getting really curious about Hakuhodo brushes lately and just might cave pretty soon...

  2. Hi, I've been reading your blog for quite a while and notice that you have often mentioned that Hakuhodo has had problems with quality control and splaying of brushes.

I don't know when you experienced these problems but I have purchased several dozen of their brushes in the past 2.5 years and can truly say that I have never had a bad experience. Their brushes are well made and don't have lose hairs or their shape despite regular use and washing.

What is nice about this company is that their brushes are accessible for many of us who don't have access to the more pricey and hard to obtain Chikuhodo or Suqqu brushes. And while I love Suqqu and Shu Uemura brushes, Hakuhodo provides a wider range from which I can select unique brushes, like tiny brushes to tightline between lashes, duo fibre brushes to apply Chanel Illusion D'ombre shadow flawlessly, incredibly soft and effective mineral foundation buffing brushes, etc.

Anyway, I'm not a spokesperson for their company, but I just wanted to share my personal experience which has been a good one.

    1. to start with my response:

It's been more than 4 years ago for my personal experience, and it hasn't just been myself, but some of my readers and a couple of my friends who have had issues with their brushes. i'm glad you've had a great experience with their brushes, and as I said in part 4 -- it seems they have gotten better in recent years. I do think they make great brushes, as they were the manufacturers for MAC brushes (at one point at least, I don't know if they still are), but I can only speak of what I have experienced -- inconsistency with their brushes at times.

I definitely agree that they (Hakuhodo) are more accessible than the ones that i've mentioned, which again, why I stated at the very end which is a brand that I recommend, seeing that they have gotten better with their QA in recent years, but I personally cannot give recommendations for their series of brushes, since i don't own any. i would like to get the pointed Hakuhodo that was mentioned in Charlotte Tilbury's video, which looks similar to the Chikuhodo Z-10.

Seeing that you've acquired them in recent years, it attests to that they have gotten better. I'm glad they have. :)

  3. I am absolutely sold on the Shu 10 brush. It's so useful to see the shapes compared to other brushes as well as get a good idea of the shape and density of each brush. You have such an amazing and well edited brush collection :)

  4. Hi, thanks for your great review! I just received an order of Chikuhodo brushes from kohlindo.se which is based in Sweden but ships internationally. I am so pleased as I don't have a friend in Japan to help me acquire this brand. The site is not in English but I used Google Translate and Paypal and had no problems at all! You can also email Malin who speaks English. The prices shown include VAT which is then deducted from purchase price and shipping was very reasonable. Great deal and cheaper than brush and shipping prices quoted by the U.S. based now-eproject. Thought I'd share this find as some of your readers may be lemming for some Chikuhodo after seeing your post.

  5. OMG-- such awesome videos, and my absolute favorite part has to be revealing the inner 12 year old girl with Hello Kitty! You are awesome! I completely agree with you about Japanese brushes! I have an unreasonable pile of Hakuhodos and am very afraid of ordering any from Chikuhodo for fear of going broke! Have a lovely weekend! <3
