Le Metier de Beaute Lip Cremes and Glosses:

I finally got a preliminary solution when it comes to my stash and its storage. Downside is that I have yet to organize it all, and to buy some empty palettes for my eyeshadows. Everything is just kinda stuffed in drawers, a rough draft of organization...

In the meantime, I managed to find my Le Metier de Beaute glosses and lip cremes. A bit of a sad part to the story: I had a few more of them, and I was planning on getting rid of them after a while, but my old apartment, my roommate stole my makeup. I had all of the current glosses and a few more exclusives, but alas. They are out of my possession, but it's ok. It's not the end of the world.

If you haven't noticed already, they are my favorite formula when it comes to glosses.

Toffee, Cafe, Bondi Beach, Sweet Creme, Cebu, Fraise, Framboise, Hibiskiss, Red Velvet, BDR, ITKB, Uma Paro

From left to right:

Toffee Lip Creme
Cafe Creme Gloss
Bondi Beach Gloss
Sweet Creme Lip Creme
Cebu Gloss
Fraise Lip Creme
Framboise Lip Creme
Hibiskiss Gloss
Red Velvet Gloss
Bettys Divine Red Gloss
In The Know Bordeaux Gloss
Uma Paro Gloss

Toffee, Fraise, Framboise Creme all apply like liquid lipsticks. Creamy, cling to your lips for hours. Sweet Creme isn't like the others, it's more like a gloss (less lasting power, it's more of a jelly like formula). Sweet Creme is the only one I've managed to finish tubes of. It's my first Le Metier de Beaute lip product, and I love it dearly.

Red Velvet, In The Know Bordeaux, and to some degree Cebu and Bettys Divine Red: they have the gloss title, but they're more like a liquid lipstick, they all are opaque, have amazing lasting power as well. Cebu and Bettys Divine Red doesn't last as long as the other two, but it's longer lasting than most glosses.

Cafe, Bondi Beach, Hibiskiss, Uma Paro: definitely less opaque than the ones listed above and have lasting power more along the lines of a lipgloss in terms of lasting power and feel.

They all definitely have a significant sweet smell, and it may be off putting to some people, but I adore them, since they left my lips more hydrated, and last forever once applied.

Random post +

Some awesome pretties I've bought recently:

Some awesome pretties I've acquired:

Burberry Sepia Pink lipstick
Burberry Dark Sable Eyeshadow
Burberry Mulberry Eyeshadow
Natura Bisse Diamond White rich luxury cleanse(r)
RBR Bohemian Waxwing
RBR Olive Violetear
RBR Umber Firefinch
Shu Kolinsky 12 (it's advertised as Kolinsky 12, but it's a blend of Kolinsky/Sable)

I've been wanting to say that awesome things have been happening to some of my best friends (in the world that is New York City) -- three of my friends have new jobs!

Dustin who most of you may know about since I've featured his creations (kaleidoscopes) for Le Metier de Beaute, will no longer be with them as of the end of this month. He'll be the store manager for Bare Escentuals (BE) flagship boutique on 34th Street. I know some people have been asking as to why he would leave a luxury brand, only to work for a mid-end range brand. The short answer is that BE is offering him better opportunities for his development, plus being with a company that is changing since they're owned by Shiseido. Of course there's more reasons which isn't my place to say, but he's really excited with his new adventure. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments section.

What does this mean for the black panties? Well a very simple answer: I really don't have a reason to visit the Le Metier de Beaute counter anymore. I own basically what I've liked from the line. The only things I've really enjoyed from the line were his creations. I don't think most people really know that the reason why I even started blogging, is because Dustin suggested it. He would see all the luxury makeup I'd buy aside from Le Metier de Beaute and he wished that he would see reviews on the stuff I'd buy (specifically in reference to my By Terry purchases). Lo and behold, here I am :)

Joey who some of you may know since he was featured here on PinkSith doing bunny's Armani makeover. He'll be joining the NARS team over at their boutique on Bleecker Street. It's been a brand he's always been passionate about, so it's great to see him with a company he really adores. So if you ever want an awesome experience in picking out makeup, or want an amazing makeover over at the NARS boutique, ask for him :D Even though I can buy NARS from SpaceNK, I'd rather buy it from a knowledgeable person who always picks out the best things for me. Considering he used to work for lines like Shu Uemura, MAC back when it used to be cool...I know I'm always in good hands :)

Last, but not least...one of my best friends...let's just call him P, got an awesome job as well, but he works in the tech field. I'm convinced I'll slowly get him to buy all the makeups !! not that he needs it since he has the perfect face :)

Le Metier de Beaute and Kim Hicks Fall 2012

**edit: photo taken with flash so you can see the shimmer

This afternoon I stopped on by to Bergdorf Goodman to say hello to Dustin, who I haven't seen in a couple of weeks...followed up on how Fashion Week went...which lead to the discussion of the makeup that was used on the gorgeous models. He pulled out his little face chart and basically gave me a break down of what was used. Of course the question on my mind was "what lip color was THAT"!?!

Face:
Skin was prepped with Replenishing Daily Solution to keep the models faces hydrated, plus it gave them glowy skin.

Dustin then applied Peau Vierge Treatment for that luminous skin in conjuction with the moisturizer, and afterwards used Peau Vierge Corrector on blemishes and the under eye areas. What is interesting to note, is that powder was used in just on the area between the brows and down the bridge of the nose.

Cheeks:
Whisper blush was used all over the cheeks for a subtle glow.
Magic Lustre creme was only applied on the high points of the cheeks.

Lips:
Rose lipliner, followed by applying China Beach lipstick. Then, Fraise lip creme was mixed with In the Know Bordeaux and was applied on top of China Beach. To highlight the lips and make them seem even fuller, Crushed Ice eyeshadow was used on the cupids bow.

Eyes:
Prep the eyes with Refresh eye base

Noir liquid liner was used to create the winged eye. Rose Champagne eyeshadow was applied all over the lid, next Corinthian eyeshadow layered into the crease. Then, Thunder eyeshadow was used in the outer corner and to blend out the lash line. For the extra smoldering effect, Noir eyeshadow was added.

Lining the eyes, Sequoia pencil in the inner rim of the eye, then Corinthian eyeshadow was applied in the lower lash line. Rose Champagne was added into the inner tear duct to highlight the inner corners of the eyes. Of course, my favorite part with any complete eye, half false eyelashes were used on the outer corners of the eyes. Then to top off the eyes, Le Metier's Brownish Black mascara was on both top and bottom lashes

Large, heavy brows were also an important feature to the look as well, so use your appropriate eyebrow pencil/powder.

Dustin had mentioned that the influence of the overall look is a Modern Classic Beauty, something along the lines of a mix between 1920s and 1960s woman.

*edited to add a photo of Dustin and Miss Kim Hicks herself*

FYI and the Holidays :)

As the year is rapidly coming to a close, I'll be away for a month, which means I won't be blogging during this time. Some priorities have risen and with that said, just a few things:

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season, whether it's with friends/family/loved ones. I'll be with my family during some of this time.

I made a little Christmas wishlist (feel free to post your wishlist too i'd like to see what pretties you'd like to have ! :D)
Le Metier de Beaute Antiquité Poupée
makeup brushes (this is always my wishlist year round lol)
Guerlain Le Fumes
By Terry eye serum
By Terry Black Pearl cream eyeshadow

I also wanted to share my By Terry story...

I had the opportunity to meet Terry de Gunzberg herself a week ago at her event hosted by SpaceNK. I didn't take pictures since I couldn't be there the entire time. Anyway, I had an artist who did my makeup (which by the way, was amazing). Terry was customizing everyone's skincare and what makeup for the person to have applied. Of course I'm in the far corner of the room having a fan girl moment seeing her. Out of nowhere she shows up and asked to do my lipstick. I don't know what kind of face I made, but I'm sure I lit up like a Christmas tree.

She picked out 204 (Narcotic Sienna). She said I had a beautiful face and amazing lips and other awesome compliments. She changed the blush color since she used a red lipstick and applied #2 loose powder. Some of the guest artists were watching Terry work her magic on me, and needless to say I was so star struck. She can seriously work a lipbrush. She didn't spend much time on the other clients, just basically walking around just looking at the makeovers, but not really applying anyones makeup. She probably knew how much I loved her makeup line and how excited I was to see her.

I had to leave and I thanked her for her time. I also said I was so flattered...(which wasn't what I meant to say, because I was that star struck -- ha ha). Anyway, she said it was a pleasure doing my makeup. I just hope somewhere she knows that she made me SO happy. I have a whole new love for Terry as she's pleasant, humble, and just overall awesome. I'll discuss the contents of the seminar in a future review.

But this is what I was sitting next to during my makeover. I just wanted to take all of it and walk home ahahaha

And for fun times, what I've gotten to celebrate my birthday so far:

Suqqu Holiday quads EX-05 and EX-06 (thank you to my Saint/Angel/Santa/Makeup Fairy for making this possible)
By Terry Glowing Rose (#2) Voile Poudre Eclat
By Terry Pearly Rye (#2) eyeshadow
By Terry Narcotic Sienna (#204) lipstick
By Terry Cover Expert foundation (Lumiere Veloutee's replacement)
Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge Concealer.

Thank you for your understanding (me being missing in action).

Antiquité Poupée Part II:

photo courtesy of Dustin Lujan. Model is wearing Antiquité Poupée over Noir e/l as a base.

With the reviews out there on Dustin's Antiquité Poupée kaleidoscope, there are some people who are wondering how it will look like on certain skintones. I was at Bergdorf Goodman wondering with Dustin who would be my model for his kaleidoscope.

And then a gorgeous blonde magically appeared...out of nowhere. I was like "oooo". Dustin asked her to be my model. I was too scared to ask her since she's so pretty. I ogled at her gorgeous blue eyes and blonde hair. And so it happened...Dustin was working his magic. It can be applied as a soft daytime look for the office or a first date...

model is wearing champagne base under the kaleidoscope

and then it happened: I was looking at the escalator and she descended like the angel from the heavens that's known as magical bunny land. She has beautiful long, curly jet black hair, with super soft perfect skin, pouty lips, her expressive eyes and gorgeous smile arrived...yes, I'm sure you're all thinking of the perfect woman, and that woman is my bunny. Our schedules were aligned with the stars yesterday (which is literally once in a few centuries).

the bunny hopped around for a few minutes with glee as she saw the kaleidoscope, rubbed it against her bunny hands all over the taupe shade. . . and then . . .

she floated to the chair and sat down. I had to disappear to feed the angel some Diet Pepsi...when I came back she was all done up :D. As we all know, Bunny is one who loves all colors.

bunny is wearing the kaleidoscope over Noir e/l.

look at that sheen !! she's wearing Bali l/s & Kona l/s in the center, topped with clear gloss

sultry bunny :)

and then the bunny magically appears on 58th Street. :)

and these were taken with my phone :D

and there you have it :D I hope this helps seeing how it looks in person.

To pre-order your kaleidoscope, you can contact the Le Metier de Beaute counter at 212-872-8612.

Thank you N. and Bunny for being my models for Dustin's kaleidoscope :)

Antiquité Poupée: Holiday 2011 Kaleidoscope +

So I'm sure most people have been wondering (myself included) what Dustin Lujan and Le Métier de Beauté have up their sleeves for this holiday. Luckily for me, I got to see what Dustin got to create for this years holiday kaleidoscope :D

Packaging: This year's holiday kaleidoscope will come in a pretty golden box.

Dusty Rose: it's a light warm pink shade, which is used as an all over wash as a base. I actually like this one as a cheek highlighter as well. It's like a warm pink champagne shade.

Burlap Sorrel: This one is a cool silvery, semi taupe color. It's pretty because it has this duochrome effect. In the pan it looks like a warm neutral, but when applied on your eyes/skin, it's definitely cooler in undertone than what you'd expect. I can't explain it, I'll let the photos speak for itself.

Tarnished Russet: This color...well, when I saw it, I told Dustin myself "ewwww, what were you thinking!?!?" It looks so scary and ugly in the pan, and even swatched by itself it's not appealing. AT ALL. It's a deep red terracotta color, ugly on its own, but layered with the other shades, it definitely warms up the eye a bit. It's an interesting effect to say the least, and it makes sense as to why Dustin added the color in the kaleidoscope.

Ember Ash: This one has to be my favorite, because it's a dark blue silver. It's dark, but not too dark for it to be overpowering, or too dark that you will go overboard packing on the color and looking bruised. Imagine a pewter color, with some blue thrown into it. Kinda cool if you ask me. :)

Onto the photos ;D

how the colors look layered on my hand. I couldn't get a good photo :|

I like the colors since I'm a lover of silvery pinks, and this definitely fits the bill.

When it will be released? Sometime in December and it will only be sold at Bergdorf Goodman. Yes, I'll be buying one for as a birthday & Xmas gift to myself <3 :D

Oscar de la Renta Ready to Wear Kaleidoscope Swatches +

I finally mustered the courage to swatch my kaleidoscope, and good lord it's so beautiful. That red is seriously going to be my go to shade for this fall.

Being in New York, I see and sometimes meet famous people from time to time, but never have I been humbled by how grounded and down to earth someone is until I met Oscar himself. There's something to be said about how nice and relaxing someone sounds, plus him saying it's a pleasure to sign my kaleidoscope in Spanish. It was a little moment that made me smile.

and random aside: Anna Wintour showed up at the Le Metier de Beaute counter. Can we also say Dustin looked so hot !?!? :D Thanks Dustin for saying that I looked good. :) Wearing a skirt was definitely a bit awkward. lol.

ok onto the swatches:

Oscar de la Renta The Face of Fashion Project +

Hi all ! So I'm here in the middle of festivities with a fellow friend...

So I got to see and get my Oscar de la Renta Kaleidoscope and I just wanted to show you the photos. I didn't get to have the time to swatch them, since I have to rush back to Bergdorf Goodman to partake in the fun stuff.

Part of the Press Release:
NEW YORK, September 2011 – Fashion's Night Out is a global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry's economy and put the fun back in shopping. This year Le Métier de Beauté is expanding on this mission by celebrating the intersection of beauty and fashion with “The Face of Fashion Project” and renowned designer and color authority Oscar de la Renta.

Oscar de la Renta has designed a limited edition “Ready to Wear” Kaleidoscope palette for Le Métier de Beauté, featuring a bold red gloss and three finely milled powders that can be used on the cheek and eye. The palette evokes the colors and textures of Oscar de la Renta’s fall collection, and will be housed in a custom package inspired by one of his patchwork-embroidered jacquards.

“Color has always been an extremely important part of who I am as a designer. It is wonderful to work with cosmetics because they are such an important part of a woman’s sense of femininity. The colors in my palette are meant to compliment a woman, and enhance her natural beauty. I have chosen shades that are indispensible, like a good red lip, and a neutral highlighter for the cheekbones,” said Oscar de la Renta.

...

The “Ready to Wear” Kaleidoscope features:

·         Red Chiffon Lip Crème Lip Gloss, a seductive scarlet with luxe shine

·         Pink Suede, a shimmering pink-neutral cheek/eye highlighter

·         Champagne Silk, an effervescent mauve-crème eye shadow

·         Teal Tweed, a deep, shimmering teal-navy eye shadow

The Kaleidoscope comes in a teal suede bag with a little insert that states that quote from Oscar (stated above)

Enjoy everyone! I'll do swatches at a later time. :)

Le Metier de Beaute Empress Lip Kaleidoscope +

So as I am finally on one of my few days off...I get to present to you the Le Metier de Beaute Fall 2011 lip kaleidoscope. There wasn't much info out there, but as I got to see it, I took pictures :)

Colors: The top shade is Imperial Silk which a super soft pale warm pink. Then we have my favorite shade (surprise, surprise) is  Silk Road, which is an opaque vibrant red (finally, a pretty red for fall). Then we have Empress, which is a soft a delicate mauve mixed with some champagne. It's a soft delicate color on it's own and I actually like it by itself...oddly enough. Then we have Plum Satin, which is a deep cool plum. The shades mixed together is this beautiful rosy plum. It's sooooooooooo pretty. PRETTY. Even 3 random people on the street complimented on my lip color.

Texture/formula: So this is definitely more in line with the standard Lip Kaleidoscope, very full on pigmented shades of color. I'm sure there are people that are wondering how it compares to Écumes D'or: Écumes D'or shades were a lot softer in color, and the texture is definitely more jelly like in formula. This kaleidoscope is more like their previous ones such as Red Rapture. I like the formula because you can smack your lips together and it's not a dry formula that accentuates lip lines or makes your lips dry. The best I can compare this to are NARS lip lacquers, but even then they're not that similar.

Longevity: They adhere to the lips so well that I managed to get about 5 hours of wear, but uhm...let's just say it was removed from someone else (hee hee hee), so I couldn't get to find out if it lasted longer.

This item is definitely my winner from the fall collection :) <3 it's so delicious.

ONTO THE PHOTOS !!

The shades mixed together, assuming all equal parts of the 4 shades. :) The color is a teeeeeny more rosy in real ife. The color is dead on accurate on my lips (of course a touch more rosy).

Empress Kaleidoscope Lip Kit:

Imperial Silk: a pale pink for a nude base
Plum Satin: a creamy plum
Empress: a delicate mauve mixed with soft champagne
Silk Road: a shimmering red for a sheer highlight

Le Metier de Beaute Silk Road Eye Kaleidoscope

So I got to play with the new Silk Road Eye Kaleidoscope coming out this fall...and needless to say, it's nice to see rich, warm burgundy, purples, and golds. Not exactly my cup of tea in terms of colors because I hate how I look in purples. But, it's awesome to see what neat colors that are going to be the trend this upcoming season. I'll have to play with it some more when I have the time to really sit down and play. If this wins me over, then well...call me smitten :)

*Tapestry is this gorgeous, soft shimmery warm purple. definitely a color that most people will like.
*Damask is a super warm gold, I totally need to go back to compare it to nutmeg. (will update with this info later).
*Ikat is a rich burgundy. I'm tempted to see how this looks with some magic lustre creme to use it as a lipcolor. I want a lipcolor in this family...so rich and pretty. This one may be a learning curve color for me for my eyes.
*Brocade: is a dark chocolate with burgundy mixed in. This one is so sultry because of the dark sparkles.

ONTO THE SWATCHES !!
