By Terry Apple Glow (#1) Blush Veloute +

So as of late I've been rocking out the cream blushes. I don't get it either, because it's summertime and cream stuff just slides off my face. Yea, having combo skin is not a good look sometimes. So anyway, one of the colors I've been using is By Terry Apple Glow. I reviewed Ginger Glaze (#3) and as much as I adore Ginger Glaze, I'm all about the pinks for the moment.

Formula and texture: Yours truly is a bit of a picky chick in terms of how something feels on my hand, or more in between my fingers (yea, that's what she said too). It's like a whipped, almost a mousse like feel. I'm all about how awesome it feels. The finish is satin-matte, but it doesn't look like a blob of ugly flat color on your cheeks, it gives a very subtle fresh flush look. You know that look on your face when you're a little too excited *wink*. It's a nice warm mid tone pink with some red in it? Maybe a better description is a natural strawberry pink. Uhm, it's not a loud color that you'd look like a clown. Trust me. Ok, so you would think that this stuff since it's a cream, that it wouldn't last long on your face. . . which brings me to . . .

Longevity: So I rocked it out in the 90 degree heat, with tinted moisturizer with no foundation primer. I really wanted to see how this stuff measures up in the heat, because if it lasts well in the heat on my skin, then yea...it's a keeper. So I wore it and I was sweating outside. You know that heat where you can't even breathe from the humidity?  I felt like I was going to collapse. Anyway, so how long did this stuff last? 7 hours and it was some fading. I didn't think it was too bad at all, given my skintype and heat. Plus had I worn foundation primer, it would have lasted easily another 4 hours, assuming it's still hot outside.

Size and packaging: 3 grams or 0.1 oz. Pretty straight forward packaging: gold, screw top packaging.

Scent: it's definitely scented with By Terrys signature rose and it has a slight baby powder scent mixed in. I feel like the scent isn't as strong the more you open the lid, or maybe I'm just used to the fragrance.

Price: $43

Onto the photosssss !!
so if you zoom in, you see random sparkles. forgive me, i was dipping my glittery hands in it. this stuff has no glitter in it at all.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Orpheline Original Skin Blush

So I'm back, albeit sick.

But I'm here to review Rouge Bunny Rouge Orpheline blush. I've reviewed a couple of other items from the line seen here. The few items I do have are really beautifully packaged and nice quality as well.

Packaging: The blush comes in a sleek black compact, with flowers on top of the lid, which I like. When you open it, there's a nice mirror and the flower design embossed on the blush itself. The packaging is pretty straight forward, and it snaps shut, so you know when it's closed. I like it because it's sleek and it has a feminine touch to the packaging. Sometimes it's too pretty that I confuse it with a mirror compact.

Texture and Color: it's a smooth, buttery texture. It's so finely milled that it feels like a cream when you touch it. I was a bit surprised when I first got Florita because it's a bit smaller than what I had expected, but it's definitely worth it. The color itself is a warm strawberry pink. It's not overly warm where it's garish, at all. In the pan there's a tiny sparkle, but when applied it doesn't show up at all. I wouldn't consider this a matte finish type of blush, because matte blushes look flat on the face. When applied on the cheeks it feels more of a soft satin finish.

Price and size: It's approximately $39 (because of the conversion rate, since the price is in GBP), 3.5 grams or 0.123 oz.

Where to purchase: Zuneta. I've had awesome experiences with them myself, and they do email you back in a very timely manner if you have any questions. What's nice about the website is aside from great color descriptions, they also state what skintones the items are the most flattering on. They're always spot-on. Since they're based out of the UK, their shipping is pretty high, unless you spend around $150+ and you'll get free shipping.

Is it worth buying? Of course :D !

Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Tranquility and Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #7

I've gotten requests as to how Rouge Bunny Rouge Sea of Tranquility compares to Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer #7. They're both very nice highlighters, but there are some differences. For the sake of this review and to make typing easier Sea of Tranquility will be (ST) and #7 will just be #7.

Packaging: Rouge Bunny Rouge illuminator comes in this gorgeous frosted glass packaging with black flowers on the glass. Definitely pretty and luxurious. The advantage of this is that you can see how much is left in the bottle. #7 is in the standard Armani Fluid Sheer opaque packaging. Minimalist in appearance and slightly shorter in height. With #7 is when you lift the lid, the pump doesn't come off. At times ST when you lift the lid, the pump can come off and if you're not careful, you can spill some of the illuminator. The downside to #7 is that you can't see how much you have left. Ok, so both overall have their small flaw, but the design of the bottle and packaging are pretty solid.

Formula and Finish: ST layered on it has a nice pearlized finish on your face. Sheered out, the frost is less apparent, and it has a soft sheen. It has a soft smell, like a fresh garden after it rains. I'm not good with smell descriptions. It's a neutral pink with a very slight peach to it. #7 when layered is a cooler pink, and has a milky finish. When sheered out it's a super soft cool milky pink. It's an awesome highlighter, and not as opaque as ST. I can't detect a smell with #7, but it could be just my nose acting up. Fluid sheers have the claim that it's oil free, which is an advantage for us combo to oily skintypes. The Rouge Bunny Rouge illuminators didn't come with a list of ingredients so I don't know if it has oil or not.

Size and price: #7 is 30mL for $59. ST is 30 mL for approx $70 (the reason for this approximation is the conversion from GBP to USD).

Keep in mind I layered it on so you can see the color/finish difference, applied both with fingers.

natural lighting. man, my arm looks so WHITE.

Indoor lighting, with flash; slightly overexposed lighting.

Indoor lighting, I fixed the ISO so it's not overexposed.

Fluid Sheer #7 ingredients, as listed on the box. Rouge Bunny Rouge illuminators didn't come with an ingredient list, well at least mine didn't.

Are these worth buying: Yes! They're both different, very nice highlighters with different finishes. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, because that's not the case. :)

By Terry Rose de Rose Sheer Liquid Blush in Amber Rose (#3)

So in light of the warmer weather (well, not so much where I live), but it's slowly transitioning into spring/summer...I'm already thinking of what I'll be wearing during the summer months.

When I think of summer, I think of luminous anything. The pretty luminous foundation, the corals, the bronzes, golds...well you know, anything really warm. Basically I've been trying to embrace my inner summer. I hate the summer months and I've never been a luminous kind of girl, but 2011 will be the year for me to venture out of the box when it comes to makeup. So this is my inspiration photo for this summer.

Packaging: My small gripe still exists, when you lift the lid, to remove the pump, it literally doesn't take much arm force. So if you twist the lid, the pump may come out without realizing it...and that can mean disaster. although it's not as bad as my Lumiere Veloutee foundation, but it's still to be noted.

Formula and Finish: By Terry liquid blushes are designed to be a highlighter and blush in one. These liquid blushes definitely fit the bill for that effect, as they have a high sheen and some sparkle. The overall effect they give is this really wet look. You know those photoshoots where the person looks really moist, dewy...yea, that kind of effect. You really need a tiny bit of it; one pump will be more than enough for both cheeks. The best way to apply these is with a synthetic brush (in my experience). The reason because if you just slap on the color with your fingers, it can go on a bit uneven if you're not careful. When first applied, the sheen may scare you, but when it dries, it looks a lot better. These will be so awesome when you go out at night. yummy.

Color: So this color looks so different in different lighting...the best description is a pink bronze/amber color. It's a gorgeous color in of itself and when you move your arm, the sheen is so awesome. sigh.

Scent: yes, it does have the By Terry signature rose scent. The strength of this scent is a lot more potent in these than some of her other products.

Price and size: $54. 15 mL, or .6 oz

Onto the photos:

I did 2 layers on my arm. The photo is a bit overexposed, but you can see the amber aspect to the color, as well as the highlighting effect it gives.

Here's a better picture in terms of lighting. For some reason it looks slightly mauve, when it's not.

If you zoom in on the photo towards the left, you can see why fingers isn't quite my favorite method to apply these. When I apply this on my face, I put some on the back of my hand, then quickly use a synthetic brush to apply even it out. These do set pretty quickly.

Look at the sheen :D

Is this worth buying?: If you're not into luminous items, then this isn't for you, but otherwise, YES! This will be one of my go to items for the summer. :D

Le Metier de Beaute Mystique creme fresh tint

YAY! I finally got my hands on one of the new creme fresh tints that Le Metier de Beaute has released. They released three new shades: Coral Nymph, Ginger Lily, and Mystique. Right now they're only sold at Nordstroms, but Bergdorf Goodman will have them soon. I didn't get the two other shades, because they look really warm, maybe too warm for yours truly.

Color: Mystique is a very cool, bubblegum-like pink (it does have some lavender to it). It's a gorgeous shade, but I can see how some people will steer clear from it, because it is a very cool pink. The online swatch it looks like a straight lavender, but of course, their color representations are a bit off. In the pot it has a very fine silver and pink micro shimmer and applied on my arm and cheek. The actual amount is not as much as Armani Blushing Fabric #1, but it's definitely apparent. Just putting it out there in case shimmer is a factor in buying. Either way, it's such a pretty color for the springtime. :)

Formula: These are slightly creamier than your Bobbi Brown pot rouges. Ok, the reason why I'm even comparing these is because the swatch I have for comparison is a Bobbi Brown pot rouge. I shouldn't even compare the two because the creme fresh tint is such a nicer product. What makes the creme fresh tints so amazing is how blendable they are. I just glide my finger across the color and it just blends so well. Blending these are so effortless. Ok so a main question is "do they stay dewy? do they dry down?" Well, if you layer it on, it will stay dewy like in the photo below. If you blend it a bit with your finger, it does dry down. I adore the formula and it's long lasting, but not drying at all. I can't get over how nice it feels against my fingers. sigh, so delectable.

Size and Price: 5 grams (.17 oz), for $28

Is this worth buying?: I like the color myself, so I think it's worth the purchase. I can say it's a very cool pink, so it may not be for everyone. If you feel like the color isn't for you, Poppy would probably be a better pick since it's warmer (and a more universally flattering color). I'll do a review for Poppy in the near future.

Onto the photos!

Le Metier de Beaute Petit Poudrier Imperial Gardens Palette: Gift with Purchase

In three days, you can pre-order your Bergdorf Goodman makeup goodies for their Gift Card Event.

It's from April 6th-10th

Spend $150 and get a $25 Gift Card
Spend $500 and get a $100 Gift Card
Spend $1000+ and get a $250 Gift Card

There are some Gift with Purchases (GWPs) being offered from different lines, but I'll be discussing Le Metier de Beaute's GWP :D ! I got the Le Metier de Beaute GWP as a gift (free) for the sole purpose to give my review and to show you the colors. From the mailer I got you have to spend $125 at Le Metier de Beaute to be entitled for the GWP, but to get the Gift Card, you have to spend $150.

The palette is Imperial Gardens--it's a beautiful lip and cheek palette. It's about the size of a business card. It contains 4 lip colors, and a blush color. It's a beautiful palette. The texture of the lip colors are like the lip kaleidoscope palettes.

To those of you who know me, I'm anti lip palettes...why you ask? Because it can get messy over time. The bigger the lip palette is, the messier it looks and it's so off putting. Luckily for me, this palette isn't overly big so even if it does get messy (I'm a klutz), it's pretty easy to clean.

Colors -- Clockwise from top left:  There's a purple with a tinge of brown lip color with golden sparkles, which I personally like by itself, but it can be mixed with other colors. Then there's this gorgeous shimmery red that has some pink to it, with pretty golden sparkles. Definitely my favorite lip color out of the bunch.  Then you have this creamy peachy pink with very subtle shimmer that barely shows up, it has pink and almost a red sparkle to it, definitely unique. Then the last color is this light brown-champagne shade, with multi-dimensional sparkles.

As for the blush color. This is the definite winner. The GWP is honestly worth it just for the blush. It's so beautiful and I have yet to see a color like this in cream form. It's like a dusty pink-mauve color. I'm seriously INFATUATED. I'm dead serious...Seriously, really, infatuated. I think you can use the blush as a lip color too, but I haven't tried it on my lips. Just stating a potential option. :)

Dear Le Metier de Beaute: Please make this cream blush a permanent color in your collection. I seriously hope you're reading this and taking it into consideration.

I will apologize upfront because I have serious limited arm movement, therefore difficulty to swatch the colors evenly. I will say the light brown champagne shade was hard to apply since it was the last color for me to swatch. Plus I didn't have the best applicator on me. I do hope you guys get the idea of how awesome it is.

Onto the pictures and swatches:

Left to Right:

The cream blush

Then the four lip colors from top left, clockwise.

*To note, the purple color looks more brown in photos than in person.

Is it worth getting?: For a Gift with Purchase, I think it's very versatile and just straight up beautiful. The cream blush...wow, just WOW.

Dior Addict lip polish fresh expert (#002) +

This blog's original intent is to blog about more niche brands, but I must talk about Dior's lip polish. I know, I know Dior is a more accessible brand, but this stuff is so awesome :) Dior is one of those brands that I do acknowledge that they have some nice items and what not, but I've never purchased anything from them. Why? the stuff is nice, but not enough for me to go "I MUST have this". Well, now I do. :)

Size and packaging: .18 fl oz, 5.5 mL. The packaging is pretty awesome in of itself: the doe foot is actually kind of cool. Why you ask? because it rotates !!! My inner geek comes out when I see makeup that has a cool contraption aspect to it. So when you take out the wand from the tube, you put the side of the applicator to your lips and as you move your hand (wand) across your lips, the applicator physically rotates 360 degrees.  So what does this mean? you don't have to (at least for me) re-dip your applicator in the tube.

Texture and longevity:  In terms of viscosity, it's similar to Le Metier de Beaute's sweet creme. It's soft, moisturizing. It's unscented and no gross white gunk on your lips after a while. It does have some nice lasting power. It lasts on me for 3-4 hours with a lot of talking and one beverage. I don't expect much lasting power when it comes to lip gloss because of it's formula. Either way, it does last a bit.

Price: $30

excuse my poor application. I just had a massage done and my left side of my body is still recovering.

Are they worth buying?: Yes ! I am a bit sad that they only come in three shades. Fresh expert is definitely my favorite out of the three. :)

Hourglass Aura lip stains +

So today I went to Sephora to kill some time. I was on a special mission to test out Hourglass Aura lip stains...and so I did. I haven't had the best experience with Hourglass cosmetics in general...reason being their lipsticks slide and slightly bleed. A little odd, I know...but I'm saying that's my personal experience with them. I know there are people who like them, so I say give them a shot if you'd like. I was willing to see what else Hourglass offers since someone asked me about the lip stains.

Packaging: They are in a click type pen form, and the applicator is a sponge. At first I crinkled my nose because it's similar in design to Ellis Faas blushes. I will say I am impressed with this particular sponge because it's a bit flexible. It's not a stiff sponge and applying the lip stain is really easy and there's a no fuss application.

Formula: I didn't try these on my lips since they're Sephora testers, but this stuff doesn't budge AT ALL. They don't feel drying on my arm, and the finish is so pretty. I'm quite impressed with these since most lip stains tend to be a gel like texture, whereas this is not. It's not runny, but it's not creamy either. Definitely a unique formula to say the least.

Price: $26

From left to right:

Scarlet
Flush
Petal

Are these worth having? For me the winner out of the three is definitely Flush. It's a nice pinky red where it's wearable for a lot of people. I also like petal too in terms of the color, but I don't feel like it's the best color on your lips because of the shimmer factor.  Scarlet is nice, if it's a color that you would see yourself wearing often. I like purples, but I only wear them once in a blue moon.

Chantecaille Charm Brilliant Gloss

I've been searching high and low for this lip item...it's sold out at many places (I didn't check online, yours truly is all about the instant gratification). I finally managed to snag the last one at a SpaceNK I normally don't go to. I'm a loyal customer to my sales associates, but I really was hunting this one down and my normal counter didn't have it.

Yes, it's the gloss that Angelina Jolie wore for the movie Salt. So maybe I am a sucker for pretty lip things, and I do love AJs makeup, so I wanted to see if this item is really worth having since she wore it.

Color and Packaging: a neutral pale pink with micro silver shimmer.  For someone with pigmented lips like myself, it's almost borderline chalk-like if I apply a lot of it on. This is literally the palest I can do, anything more pale would be chalk. It's nice to know how light I can go. The packaging is clear tube with a silver lid and brush applicator.

Size and price: It's a really TALL lipgloss in terms of height. Slightly taller than an Armani lip shimmer. The amount you get is 3 mL. Armani you get 6 mL. Le Metier de Beaute you get 6.5 mL. I don't understand how that's possible seeing how tall it is and the tube isn't narrow, either. So let's get more specific: Chantecaille's brilliant glosses are 1 oz (it's physical weight), versus Armani 0.2 fluid ounces (volume) and Le Metier de Beaute is 0.22 fluid ounces. The price is $28.

Formula and longevity: Formula is very soft and moisturizing. I like the formula in the sense that it doesn't cling onto your hair, or it doesn't leave a funny residue on the lip. I will state that the color does turn much lighter pretty quickly.  This is the case for a lot of glosses due to the nature of the formula, but Chantecailles brilliant glosses really turn clear on your lips really fast. I was a bit surprised for the price you pay for this item, that the color doesn't stay true to form for very long. It could be just my lips, but I'm just putting it out there. Longevity, it doesn't last as long as my other glosses. I am a bit surprised in that sense as well.

Onto the comparison pictures :D (don't laugh at me because I don't own many lighter colors)

From left to right:

Is it worth buying: I think it's a pretty color overall and a nice texture, but I don't deem this item being a wow standout from the line because it does turn clear pretty fast. I think it's nice to have one shade you really like, but that's about it.

By Terry Rouge Terrybly lipstick in Torrid Rose (303)

So I purchased some By Terry Terrbly lipsticks :) She has new shades for spring, and they're all gorgeous to say the least. Lots of fun pinks !

I purchased a couple, but for the sake of the spring season, let's discuss Torrid Rose:

it's a slightly warm pink-rose color. It's not a full on fuchsia (how it looks in the tube). At first glance it looks cool (by appearance in the tube and on my arm) but once applied it's definitely a slightly warm pink. The formula of these are wonderful.

Packaging: They're in a silver tube with a magnetic enclosure. There's no heft (in terms of weight), but the packaging is sturdy to me. The lipstick itself has "Terrybly" along the side of the tube and when you open the tube, there's By Terry written diagonally (lasered on)  below the base of the lipstick. Simple, sleek. I'm a fan of simple, sans-decoration packaging.

Texture and Formula: They're weightless, moisturizing and the color selection, although it's small, they're well thought out colors. I do adore the texture, soooo moisturizing without being creamy. The one thing about these is that they're not as opaque as I had imagined them to be. They are lipsticks, but they're slightly shy of being full on OPAQUE. They're also not as long lasting as a Giorgio Armani Rouge d'Armani, but they don't wear off quickly either.  They do fade into a beautiful stain too, which is great. With these lipsticks, I feel like I need to wear a lipliner to get the effect I want, but that's just me personally.

Finish and appearance: There's no sparkle in these (yay), and on my lips, it's very shy of being full on opaque.

Onto the pictures !!

from left to right:

By Terry in Torrid Rose
MAC Isabella Blow lipstick.

Note that Blow is more blue in real life. MAC Girl About Town is fuschia, whereas Torrid Rose is a bit warmer and rosy on the lips, than on my arm.

I love how it's so bright, but not OTT that Blow can be at times. I'd wear this by itself during the day. It's a color that you can blot and it won't look as bright or intense.

Is it worth getting: I LOVE this color. finally, a bright pink I can get away with that doesn't look overdone during the day.  If you have a lot of pinks, you can pass on it, I think. For $48, this is a nice lipstick you can splurge on.

Le Metier de Beaute Lip Cremes +

As you can see, I photographed a lot of the Le Metier de Beaute counter here and over here. I had the hardest time taking photos of the lipcremes due to the flash (the reflectiveness of the tubes). When I took the pictures without flash, the colors were not accurate, due to the lighting at Bergdorf Goodman. But it never hurts to practice with the camera a bazillion times in my bedroom to photograph what I personally have. I'll have a second stab at the lipcremes when I go to Bergdorf Goodman in the near future.

These lip cremes are one of the standouts of Le Metier de Beaute. I adore them because they're comfortable on your lips, not sticky, and the iridescence is just awesome. They're $36 for .22 fl oz. Once you've tried one of these, you'll never go back to any other brand for lipglosses. It's one of the products you have to try for yourself, and believe me, I've tried MANY. The shades are meant to be mixed  with other colors.

And here we go:

from left to right:

Creme de la Creme
Toffee

Framboise

Creme de la Creme: nice nude shade with pretty multi dimensional sparkles. I like using this over a dark shade to lighten it up. I personally cannot wear this one alone due to the color and the texture on top of bare lips, it looks a little odd. I didn't care for it at first, but it's won me over with time. It's not sticky, it has an awesome duration on my lips. I've worn this on top of Framboise and it's soooo pretty.

Toffee: Gorgeous warm bronze/peach shade. I want to wear this alone during the summer, but I love it when it's mixed with Framboise.

Vanilla Rose: A nice light pink with pink/red sparkles. I can wear this over a nude lipliner, but not straight on the lips, since they're really pigmented. I love pairing this with Giorgio Armani 103 lipstick, or Framboise. mmmm

Sweet Creme: The consistency is similar (but not quite) to a MAC plushglass, but the texture is a lot nicer, no funky gunk that collects on your lip over time (MAC plushglasses has this effect on my lips). I can wear this one alone and it's my personal favorite because it lightens my natural lipcolor. This is my HG lipcreme, if I had to pick one.

Framboise: Need I say more? This consistency is almost like a liquid lipstick, but it's definitely a gloss.  It's true framboise color with red and other pretty sparkles. You can see a more detailed review on Temptalia and how it looks on her. It seems she loves it a lot, since she reviewed it twice.

I  wish they had more colors, but at the same time, too many choices can be overwhelming. Be aware that they are fragranced, but I can't think off the top of my head what the smell reminds me of. It's a vanilla like smell, and it's not a strong scent either.

Giorgio Armani Spring 2011 La Femme Bleue +

I would like to present swatches and overall conclusion to Giorgio Armani Spring 2011:

You can see the entire spring collection on KarlaSugar to see a complete overview on the collection. 518 lipstick is permanent, so I'll be getting that later. What I can say about 518 is that it does have a bit of sparkle, which is unusual, because Rouge d'Armani lipsticks have none (well none that I've tested or own). The artist used 518 lipstick and #16 lip shimmer on top and it's the perfect light pink opal sheen. :) I did find out (random aside) that #16 is their best selling lip shimmer. Overall description: #16 is gorgeous on its own, and the color is what MAC oyster girl wishes she was. I've finally found my super light pink opalescent lip combo that doesn't look like chalk on my pigmented lips.

The highlight of the collection: the eyeliners. They're smooth, creamy, and extremely long lasting. They apply almost like a gel or liquid eyeliner. They come in black, taupe, and green. I've tested it on the waterline and this stuff doesn't come off. I don't understand why Armani makes these Limited Edition, because they're brilliant. I purchased the black and taupe shades.

I also purchased the blush and what's nice about it is that it's matte. It's the first time that Armani has made a matte blush, but I'm relatively new to the line, so I have no idea if they've made any in the past.

I got the blush
2 of the black eyeliner (#1)
2 of the taupe eyeliner (#2)

From top to bottom:
Le Metier Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Noir.
Shu Uemura Painting liner
Giorgio Armani eyeliner in #1. (black)
Giorgio Armani eyeliner in #2. (taupe)

I've been going gaga over the black shade because it's so so so black. I missed out on these last year because they were sold out within a couple of days.

In terms of shimmer: The black one has 0 shimmer, whereas the taupe shade it's very fine, micro shimmer. It's only really visible up close.

From left to right:
Rock and Republic Spank
Giorgio Armani Spring Blush
Shu P Wine 25.

This blush is amazing. This will now be my everyday soft pink blush. woooohoooo

Spank is a bit warmer in person, but as you can see, the GA pink is definitely not overly cool. It seems more neutral when it's applied on my face, but you can get the idea.

What's worth getting: The eyeliners. The green one is glorious too, but I've only been buying what I'll wear on a consistent basis. The blush, I can see darker skintones not being able to wear it since it's a sheer pink. Plus, if you have a similar shade, then you can pass on it, but the advantage of Armani blushes is the finish and the awesome quality.

I thought the finishing powder was passable, it's basically a micro fined version of pink opal pigment. I do like the effect it gives on my face (a nice warmth), but I never wear finishing powders. The palette, although it's gorgeous, it's just not what I would wear (personally). Don't be afraid of the colors in it, because the artist did make this palette so wearable (a soft everyday look) on me. This is coming from someone who only really wears neutrals. I do think it's worth seeing if you like greens and purples.
